Kathmandu, March 22, 2026 -SUSWA was honored to join this important national gathering in Lalitpur, where diverse stakeholders, from policymakers to practitioners, came together to reflect on Nepal’s water future.
Over the course of the conference, SUSWA team engaged in insightful discussions on governance systems, policy directions, water accounting, and climate financing. The sessions also emphasized the growing importance of innovation, technology, and community-led solutions in addressing water challenges. Equally significant were conversations around gender equity, social inclusion, energy linkages, disaster resilience, and cooperation across shared water systems.
SUSWA Technical Specialist Narayan Singh Khawas presented “Invisible Mountain Settlements and WASH Rights,” highlighting the need to ensure inclusive and equitable access to WASH services for marginalized and remote communities.
The conference concluded with five forward-looking declarations that will help guide future action in Nepal’s water sector. SUSWA is grateful to have been part of this collaborative platform and looks forward to continuing the dialogue and action toward water security for all.
